What are Neural Networks?
Neural networks are a fundamental component of Learning Language Models (LLMs) such as CHATGPT and Gemini. These models process data by taking inputs from prompts, which are essentially tokens representing words or phrases.
When a user poses a question to an LLM, the neural network breaks down the input into tokens and compares it to previous chat history. This process allows the model to predict the next word in the sequence. The outputs generated are predictive answers based on the patterns learned from vast amounts of text data.
For instance, if a user asks an LLM to complete the sentence "The answer to the calculation 2+2 is...", the model analyzes the entire sentence structure and the patterns it has learned. It predicts "4" as the response because, statistically, "4" is the most likely token to follow that phrase according to the patterns of human language. (originally posted in LinkedIn)
